November Fun

This November we had a lot going on. We went to Utah for Thanksgiving break. While there we went and saw Breaking Dawn opening night. I loved it. Danny, not so much. For Thanksgiving, we went to Danny's brother's house in Alpine. I was in charge of nametags, so Pinterest, once again came through. I made turkeys out of Oreos and candy corn. Pictures of them are below. That night, we also celebrated Danny's 30th birthday with his family a few weeks early. I made him a Jazz cake out of M&Ms and Kit Kats (Danny's favorites). It was a hit. I also had 2 baby showers in Utah. One with the Hansen family and one with the Winn family. We got a lot of great stuff. We feel very fortunate to have such great and caring families. All the stuff we got filled our car to the top for our drive back to Arizona. We used every last square inch of that car. On the way home and we stopped and stayed a night in St. George's finest Roach Motel. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. I didn't take off my shoes once, and I slept in my clothes. Danny says I need to serve a mission, because he was right at home. But we made it home safely, without catching any diseases from the motel.

Pregnancy is going well. While in Utah, Danny's sister Lyndsee took maternity pictures for us at Wheeler Farm and she did a great job. At my latest check-up, my doctor said that everything is going well, but she thinks that I will go early. She doesn't think that I will make it past 37 weeks. She hopes I will make it past 35 weeks. As of today I am 33.5 weeks. Hearing this news put everything in high gear for us to get everything done before the baby comes. I finished the crib bedding and made a car seat cover. Danny and I also went to Ikea and bought the rest of the nursery furniture. The nursery is almost done. I will be posting pictures soon of the finished product.

So I had the opportunity to go up to Utah last weekend for my aunts famous Halloween party. This year was the first year that costumes were required. So I decided to go all out. My mother back in the day when she was pregnant with Olivia was a pig. I have always loved that costume. This year being that I am six months pregnant for Halloween, I thought it was the perfect time to recreate the pregnant pig. Danny sadly couldn't join me for this trip because he had a test that following Monday. When my mom and my sister came down a few weeks ago we were at JOANNs and we saw this cute little owl costume. I told my sister that's what her and Wendy should be are owls and call yourselves Hooters. Olivia amazingly made both of their costumes and I think they turned out quite well. They were a "Hoot". My parents on the other hand decided to wear something they already had. Their old uniforms from the good old days at Hillcrest High. I still can't believe that my mom could fit into her cheerleading uniform from over 30 years ago. I would be lucky to even fit in mine now. Even if I wasn't prego. And my dad of coarse had to bring out the toupee. Which was crazy for everyone. So many people didn't have a clue who he was. They were like "who is this guy". It was pretty fun. I love Halloween and was glad to have to opportunity to dress up this year. Danny already has our costumes picked out next year for our little family. He wants baby to be batman, for him to be robin, and for me to be catwoman. As soon as that baby is out I better start workin out if I'm going to have to wear skin tight costume.
Another big highlight this month was Danny's White Coat Ceremony. This is where they present all the med students with their white coats. It was a really cool ceremony. They talked about what it means to be a doctor and the honor and responsibility you have when you are wearing your white coat. They present the coats when the students are starting off rather than at the end of school, because they want to students to start getting in the mindset now and start being motivated now. I am so grateful and proud of Danny for this journey that he is on. I know it is going to bless our lives tremendously.
Update on baby is still no name, but he is growing healthy and strong. I am definitely running out of room. I don't know if my ribs will ever be the same. It has all gone by so fast, he will be here before we know it. I know it is real and it is going to happen, but it still hasn't hit me that soon there we be this little baby in our lives that will change everything. It probably wont become real until I'm holding him in my arms at the hospital.
To keep up with tradition Danny and I had to carve pumpkins. Mine is Frankenstein and Danny did the ghost busters logo. He always does the hardest things and they always turn out great. Now I just hope we get some trick or treaters to show them off.

About 28 Weeks

This month we have had some good things happen and some not so good things happen. I came back to Utah for a couple of days to work. And we will just say my body isn't what it used to be being pregnant now. But it was good to see my clients and catch up. Also while I was there I had my first baby shower. It was a delight :) It was held at my friend's Marses house. The weather was nice so we were able to have it outside. Having my first shower started to make things more real for me, but still surreal. I have doubled in size and the baby is doing well. He loves to kick me and have a party anytime I lay down to relax. We still haven't picked a name out for him yet. Danny thinks I am too picky. Which I am. His name is a very important part of his life. It's a lot of pressure to make sure you pick a good one.

Danny has also started playing intramural football. Let me first say that it is FLAG football which basically means NO tackling. So the first game I go to what happens in the first quarter...Danny just gets clobbered by these two guys. But he got up and played the rest of the game. After the game he told me something was wrong and he might be really hurt. So the next day he goes to the doctors and got some x rays done. Come to find out he has broken a rib. And what can you do for a broken rib......absolutely nothing. So they gave him some drugs and told him to take it easy and to come back in a month.

We just got our first callings in our new ward... Nursery!!!! Sunday was our first week. There was about 17 kids and it was the most structured nursery that I have ever seen. They have a rotating schedule that they do ever week. I think its good cause there are so many kids in there. Least to say though Danny and I are the gimp couple. I have a hard time picking up the kids cause of being pregnant and Danny isn't even supposed to pick up the kids and all that bending up and down isn't fun for either of us. But the kids are great and it will be a fun temporary calling for us until I have to baby. Which he is now due January 17.

One last thing if you know anything about Danny and me you know that we love Halloween. So I finally got our house decorated. It looks great!

San Diego, Trees, and Pocket Knives

For the long labor day weekend we decided to drive to San Diego and visit Danny's brother. It only took us around five hours which isn't that bad. It's like driving to Vegas. The only thing that sucked was having to wait in traffic for the three road stops for where they check if you are stashing any Mexicans. And I swear every time we always chose the lane where the guy liked to chat with every single car. While to guy in the other line just waved people on through. On the way we stopped to see my second family while I was growing up, the Dyes. It was great to visit with them and catch up. San Diego was great. It was nice that we were in a place where it actually cools down at night. We went to the beach a couple of times. Which was cold of course. That's just how the beaches are over there. We also tried to go see some sea lions and stuff, but it was packed because of Labor Day weekend. It was great to get to spend time with some family and we love our nieces and nephews. On the way back we hit the mother of all sand storms. It was really scary. Wind plus rain plus sand for about two hours is very nerve racking. I started singing "Arabian nights" because it seriously was like we were in the middle of the desert.

Things have been going good for us. Danny is still studying hard and is doing really well on his tests each week. I'm trying to prepare for the arrival of our baby. I have been reading a lot a books and we just made our first big baby purchase.... our crib. I love it and we got a killer of a deal on it too. My project for this week is to get the babies room painted!

Funny story... so there other night we didn't sleep at all cause it was windy and we have this tree that scraps along our window all night long. Least to say we decided we couldn't take it anymore. But our problem was is we didn't have the tools to cut the branches. So we improvised.. Danny and a little saw off his Swiss army knife that he used to little by little cut off the limbs. While he was cutting down the branches so they would fit into our garbage the little saw broke in half. I guess it wasn't an official Swiss army knife but it did the job we needed it to do. We are sleeping soundly for now until the baby comes that is.

22 Weeks

New Additions

Now that I am home all the time I decided it was time to learn how to blog. Yes, Danny has been the blogger not me. But now he goes to school all day and studies all night. So I decided to take over.

Arizona is great. A little hot at times, but still great. I can't wait to be taking walks and going to the pool in November. Instead of waking up early to go scrap off all the snow on my car so I'm not late for work. Our neighborhood is really good. It's in a newer area and we are very close to a lot of things like: Walmart, Costco, the mall, Michael's, and the movie theatre. Things stay pretty quiet around here which is nice cause you never know when you move into a place where things are so close together.

As well as having new additions to our home like decor and furniture, we have a new addition to our family. Or soon to be. I am due in the middle of January. I was really sick my first trimester, but am now feeling much better being in my 19th week. I came up to Utah for a few days and made a doctors appointment to find out the sex of the baby. Danny and I were so excited. I had told everyone that I was going to find out on Monday what it was. So there I am at the doctors and he is checking everything like the spine, lip, heart, head to make sure everything is as it should be. And finally he tries to tell if its a boy or a girl and it wouldn't cooperate. It was being so modest. I mean it had its legs tuck up and together and it would not move. So least to say it was very bitter sweet. I was happy the baby was healthy, but I really wanted to know what it was. After talking to Danny and realizing I wouldn't be able to see a doctor down here for at least six week because of us trying to get on insurance and stuff. I decided to go to Fetal Photo at the mall. I ate right before I went in and drank a lot of water. I also did a few jumping jacks to be sure. Least to say the kid was doing flips in my tummy. And he wasn't being modest anymore. We even got a picture of it spread eagle. So there is no mistaking this little guy for anything but all BOY! Danny is ecstatic to have a little Jazz buddy to watch all the games with him. And I can't wait for him to get here. It is such a miracle and blessing to bring something into this world that is a part of you and the one you love.

Our New House

Cassie and I are preparing for big changes in our life. After being accepted to Midwestern University's podiatry program, we have decided to take advantage of a buyer's housing market in Arizona and buy a house. We made a trip down to look at houses and made an offer on our favorite and it was accepted. We are close to closing on the house. It is located in Peoria (Northwest of Phoenix) in a newer area. We are really excited. We will be leaving in July some time. Be ready for an going away party. Below are some pics of the house. It is 3 bed and 2.5 bath. We love it. Also are some pics of our trip to St. George and Mesquite.

After years (yes years) of waiting, we finally know where we will be spending the next 4 years of our lives. Danny has been accepted to the Podiatry program at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Needless to say, we are completely excited about this. We had other opportunities out there. He had been accepted to podiatry schools in Philadelphia and New York with scholarship offers to both schools. He also had interview invites to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Iowa, and Miami. However, we knew Phoenix is where we wanted to be. Once we were accepted to Arizona we canceled all of the other interviews. Danny did travel to Philadelphia, New York, Phoenix, and San Francisco. Below are pictures from us from those trips and just of us.

Summer of 2010

It is probably time to update this thing. We could probably have a child in the time it takes us to update our blog. Below are some highlights of our recent past followed by some pictures.

Highlight of our summer was the trip to Yellowstone with Cassie's family. This involved whitewater rafting, hiking, singing "Teddy Bear Picnic" and "The Old Faithful Song" in the car, playing card games, and not getting up early to try to see animals with Kerry and Liz. See the many pics below.
Danny didn't get in to medical school last year. He was on a High Priority Wait List for a school in Las Vegas, but never got the call. He has applied again and we are again crossing our fingers.
Eclipse came out and Danny and Cassie contributed to the estrogen-fest at the midnight release.

Danny tried to grow his hair out. Cassie loved it. Danny thought he looked like a feminine hygeine product.

Catching Up!

Ok so its been a while since the last time we posted so I thought I would give this a try. Most people think I'm the one who does the blog, but little do they know it's Danny. He's the best. So for Halloween we went to a party at Brock's house. Danny was dressed as Micheal Jackson and I went as cat woman. We had lots of fun visiting and dancing around with the cardboard cut out of Robert Pattinson that Brock bought on a whim.. Edward was the hit of the night.

I had a New Moon party at my house. Everyone came over and we watched Twilight then we went to the midnight showing of New Moon. It was crazy crowded with all the crazy fans, but we had a blast. Even greg dressed up as Edward even if he didn't know it.

December was super busy for us as it always is. We had lots of fun spending time with our families. We also got very spoiled with presents.

Our most recent adventure included driving down to Las Vegas so danny could interview for a school down there. He thinks it went well so we just have to wait and see. We stayed in the New York New York. And I was woken up every morning with danny whispering in my ear I'm gonna go down stairs for a lil bit. Oh that boy loves to gamble.We also went and saw the phantom of the opera which to say the least was Amazing!

Wedding #2

We've always wanted to retake our wedding pictures because it poured the day we got married. We didn't get very many pictures around the temple grounds on that rainy day. We know that we don't look the same as we did 2 years ago. We look ten times better! Which made this idea that much better.
A couple of weeks ago we went to Temple Square with Cassie's friend Mandy. It was a beautiful day with no clouds at all. The German Paparazzi (or rather crazy German tourists with cameras) followed us around and took our picture all day long. They told Cassie that she was going to be famous in Germany. So, if you are in Germany any time soon and see Cassie on a billboard promoting some bizarre German product, don't be surprised.

Friends, Football, and the Jazz

This last month has been eventful. As we continue to wait to hear back from medical schools, we have been keeping busy. Below are the highlights and some pictures.

We spent a weekend of rest and fun in St. George with Lance and Marse. Highlights included tennis in the rain, lounging by the pool, and late night trips to Target
We got season tickets to the U of U football. Cassie is really excited for football to start.
A trip to the Bees game with Lance and Marse. At the end of the game we waited for the fireworks that never came.
Danny was one of 1000 to audition to be an official blogger for the Utah Jazz. Out of 1000 they chose 16. Danny was one of them. When his stuff is posted we will put a link on this blog so you can follow and comment on them. Or you can go to utahjazz.com or jazzbots.com to follow the fun.

Summer of Fun

We have had a fun and exciting summer. Below are some of the highlights.

We went to the cabin with friends and the family. We had a bat get into the cabin. Danny was really macho and ran like a girl when the bat chased him.
Danny participated in the Pepperwood 4th of July Triathlon. He trained hard for it. The night before he found out that each event was twice as long as he had been training for. But he finished, and didn't take last place. He beat the guy who got cramps.
We went to the Demolition Derby with some unexpected guests.

Our Cali Trip

So we recently took our annual trip with our good friends Marse & Lance, Ellie & Gary. This trip we went to oceanside california and stayed in a condo right on the beach it was great. The first day we went to Sea World which was really fun be we forgot our sun screen so we all got burned. We went to the Price is Right which was awesome! We were able to be in the audience but non of us got chosen to be contestants ( they only choose 9 out of 300) so the chances were not in our favor. The last day we spent at Universal Studios. And in our free time the girls layed out while the guys played hours and hours of basketball.

A So Far Wacky 2009

Just some updates on what our lives are like now:

We began by wrecking our Trailblazer (black ice and freeways are a bad mix)
We bought an '05 Jeep Liberty and an '01 Saturn L200 (See them on the right)
Some changes may be forthcoming for Cassie in her business
Danny is finally taking his final pre-requisites for medical school. We start applying June 1
We and Larry the Lion got released from the nursery
We both got called to head up Youth Special Projects (Fundraisers and Youth Conference)
A week after receiving that calling, Danny got called into the Elder's Quorum Presidency and will now do both callings
Danny made Cassie dinner for Valentines (See below)
Cassie got extremely sick from Danny's made dinner (See below)
